Imaginative parenting fosters joy; empowerment; self-awareness; emotional intelligence; emotional bonds; life skills; empathy and ethical action to people of all ages. My goal is to help share those strengths with you and your families.
You are invited to join me on a journey. In my upcoming nonfiction book, 800 Elephants to Tea: An Invitation to Imaginative Parenting, I will show you through real examples the power and value of imaginative parenting. I’ll also give you practical, in-depth guidance on how to engage in reading, storytelling, writing, and imaginative play with children of all ages. You can get a sneak peak at the introduction to the book on this website.
When I am not imagining, parenting, or both, I am working. I am the author of six books, and have been a professional writer and editor for 31 years. Feel free to check out my author page and the website for my writing business, The Writing Source.
I have a Ph.D. in Communication. Since 1996, I have worked on education and community projects as Director of FOCUS Interactive Research. FOCUS Interactive Research performs qualitative research, planning, and community outreach on sensitive and complex issues, including cultural responsiveness, diversity, inclusion, community relations, and a wide range of educational topics.
